Sample Requirements
The sample must be received within the laboratory within 4 hours of collection. If the sample cannot reach the laboratory within 4 hours the sample must be centrifuged (3000g for 10 minutes) and separated and frozen



Results
The new test gives both a qualitative and quantitative result.
If the result is equal or higher than 1.0 U/mL this may indicate the presence of HIT antibodies.
A positive result DOES NOT CONFIRM the diagnosis of HIT

Further Information
The HIT screening test will be performed at Royal Liverpool University Specials Coagulation Laboratory during routine working hours (Monday-Friday only). Samples must be received in the laboratory by 3pm for same day processing. Sample will not be tested over night or at the weekend. Samples received during this period will be stored and processed the next working day.
