Laboratory tests may be requested by trained medical and nursing staff directly via terminals on certain wards and subsequent reports viewed and printed if required, using the "ICE" system.

Ensure relevant clinical details are entered. It is essential that the correct date and time of the specimen is written on the printed requistion form at the time the specimen is taken and on the specimen tube/bottle. How to use ICE forms Do NOT abuse the emergency/urgent service e.g. multiple requests from one ward cannot all be genuinely urgent.
