| Additional tests may be requested for specimens already received in the laboratory. |
| This will be dependent on the test required and availability of the specimen in the laboratory. |
| Additional tests will only be performed following receipt of an appropriate request form. |
| We attempt to store residual specimens post-examination for: |

Biopsy: Stored for a minimum of 2 years.
Bloods (Helicobacter serology): Serum not stored.
Bloods (other): Serum/plasma stored for a minimum of 2 years.
CSF: Aliquot stored for a minimum of 2 years.
Faeces: Primary tube stored for 1 week.
Liquid based cytology: Aliquot stored for 1 week.
Respiratory tract specimens (lower): Aliquot stored for a minimum of 2 years.
Respiratory tract specimens (upper): Primary tube stored for 1 month.
Swabs (chlamydia and gonorrhoea PCR): Primary tube stored for 1-2 weeks.
Swabs (other): Primary tube stored for 1-2 months.
Urine: Primary tube stored for 1-2 weeks.
