Vitamin A deficiency <0.5 associated with night blindness and fat malabsorption. Correct interpretation may also require measurement of the vitamin A carrier protein, retinol binding protein (RBP), as decreases in RBP giving low vitamin A may not infer vitamin A deficiency.
Vitamin A excess >7.0   associated with liver damage.
