There are over 50 serotypes of adenoviruses which can cause infections of the
respiratory tract, conjunctivae, and gastrointestinal tract. They may also cause
disseminated infection in immunocompromised patients.

|Specimen type||Faeces: Collect at least a pea sized amount or 0.5ml into a stool container.|
Swabs: Use the Sigma-Virocult swab (GREEN CAPPED) or REMEL swab (RED CAPPED) collection kits.
EDTA: 4ml blood into a EDTA (LAVENDER CAPPED) container.
