Investigations Rubella
Rubella causes an infection similar to a mild case of measles with maculopapular rash which may be accompanied by coryza and conjunctivitis. However, congenital rubella syndrome can have severe consequences for the foetus if infection occurs in the first 16 weeks of pregnancy.
If Rubella infection is clinically suspected, please discuss the case with virology.
